The USA

(Jun-Aug 2013) Been there, done that - actually this was my frame of mind this time. Being a software engineer this is the 1st opportunity for me to go abroad after 10 years. Still, I would say that as I was taking my wife and son along with me, it was a special trip for me. This was their first trip to the USA – a foreign country, which gives shapes to your imagination. Of course, she has seen many videos, movies about various places in the USA, but now she actually knows what it is. As far as I know, for Rishabh it was just fun filled month – he was getting whatever he asked – chocolates, cold drinks, fruit juices, candies, ice creams, visited many places.. I hope he shouldn’t complain.

To the Indians – the eastern coast mainly means, statue of liberty and niagara falls.  Fortunately we saw both in this trip. Mainly we visited Boston (aquarium, boston tea party, downtown, freedom trail, boston commons, quincy market, MIT, Harward, WPI) , New York (Madam Tussads, Times square, Statue of liberty) Washington DC (Capitol, Washington monument, Science meusium), White mountains, Niagara Falls. Have also been to Philadelphia but did not see the liberty bell or any other place – was only at one friends place. Also visited many of my WPI friends and a couple of old friends from Abad. It was a nice experience, to understand their lifestyle.

It was summer, but still could not enjoy the beaches that much – been to Hampton beach with friends – but it was cold. The main thing that we did in the USA was we visited many malls. Initially we liked Walmart, Market basket and all.. but soon felt malls are better for shopping. Then after visiting so many malls.. felt they all are similar. It wasn’t fun anymore.

The long flight journeys, one and a half month break for my wife/son and 2 and a half for me from our regular life at Blore.. overall an experience worth remembering.
