Chitradurga Fort!

Chitraduraga (Jul 2015): After many days of lull, we went out for a small outing – a weekend outing. Fortunately, this turned out to be one of the best weekends in recent times. The journey to Chirtradurgra via NH-4 (Blore-Pune) highway is one of the fastest routes I have ever traveled on - absolutely bypassing every small and major town in between.

On the way, we visited Vani Vilas Sagar dam, one of the oldest and biggest man-made reservoir of that time (a century old) –  really beautiful dam. There in chitradurga we visited Adumalleshwara temple (a small zoo), Chandravalli guhe, Murugarajendra Matha (which has very nice park – lots of sculptures – dynosores, human evolution, different cultures are depicted there) and Chitradurga fort.

This fort is a real rocky fort and has been the house of Madakari Nayaka  - one of the most famous warrior in Karnataka. There is also a folklore about Onake Obbavva (a lady who saves the fort from attacks of Hydar Ali) - which happened in this town only. It’s a heritage site and is very well maintained and is the main attraction of that town. It takes 2-3 hrs min to have a glance of this fort and a guide is a must.

Mysore Again

(Dec 2014)
This time of the year is a bit scary if you don't have any plans or if you don't plan anything. Somehow this time I was in no mood to do anything special (not that I do it every time). But I went to mysore and there we visited a few places.

On the way, somehow we managed to reach Bluff (only gaganachukki falls). I had been to this place already, but a very beautiful waterfall - worth the visit. The kabini reservoir is very expensive Jungle lodge in Karnataka - about 15K per night for the couple. Oops. And the unfortunate part of this scheme is, if you don't book the hotel, you wont be able to take safari and boat trip in the kabini back water. Anyhow, the area was nice, but without reservation we could not do much.

The Balamuri falls, to my surprise was very nice waterfall when you are with family. We can play a lot there in water..my son enjoyed it very much. The Ranganatittu bird sanctuary in this time is worth visiting as I could see many migrant birds (also saw many crocodiles in the wild). May not be the best time, but still I could see many birds.. oh yeah..this time I adopted one bird in mysore zoo (eclectus parrot). As usual, I love mysore zoo.
